» South Korea India FTA
On August 7th, the Government of India inked a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), or FTA with South Korea. While the finalization of the process will need ratification by the Korean National Assembly of the pact in South Korea, there has been no debate regarding this agreement in public or even the press in India. According to a press release from the Government of India, the pact includes reduction or elimination of 93% of Korea’s tariff lines and 85% of India’s tariff lines, facilitated Trade in Services through additional commitments made by both countries to ease movement of Independent Professional and Contractual Service Suppliers; as well as commitments on investments including national treatment and investments protection in all sectors except these specifically exempted from it (Press release: India signs agreement with South Korea).
